In celebration of African American history month, join fellow Penn Staters at Pittsburgh’s newest cultural landmark, the August Wilson Center for African American Culture, named for Pittsburgh’s native son and one of America’s foremost playwrights. Courtney Young, assistant professor and librarian at Penn State Beaver, will discuss African American history, highlighting Penn State alumni. A reception will follow.

$25 for Penn State Alumni Association members
$40 for non-members
$10 for children ages 12-18 (under 12 free).
Cost includes exclusive guided tour of the museum, faculty presentation and reception.

Joe Battista has quite a history with Penn State. He spent over 18 years as Head Coach for the Penn State Icers and three years as Executive Director of the Nittany Lion Club. He is currently serving as the Director of Major Gifts with the Smeal College of Business. Given his great coaching successes, including capturing 6 ACHA National Titles and obtaining ACHA Division 1 Coach of the Year twice, Joe is an excellent candidate to discuss “The Margin of Excellence.” He will focus on ways to inspire individuals and teams to go “above and beyond.”
