Mentoring Program

The Mentoring Program is a unique opportunity for Smeal students of Pittsburgh area campuses to connect on a one-on-one basis with area Penn State alumni now in the professional world. This program requires a serious commitment on behalf of both mentee and mentor. With this commitment comes the possibility for great reward. The uniqueness of the program allows students to form an ongoing relationship with area alumni that can benefit and help them whether early in their academic career at PSU or as they prepare to enter the business world. By volunteering time as a mentor to future Penn State graduates, our Alumni base and area becomes stronger. Actively giving back to Penn State is one of the main drivers of this program and should be commended.

This program pairs mentees and mentors for ongoing one-on-one interaction. Though a minimum time commitment has been established, the program is designed for autonomy based on the mentoring relationship formed and goals of both parties. The mentoring program is designed with both parties' best interest in mind so we ask that all participants feel free to provide follow-up and feedback at the conclusion of the semester.

The program will commence with a kick-off event each semester which will involve interaction of all participating mentors and students. After the kick-off event, students and mentors will be paired together based on information provided by both parties. The Club will assist, if needed, in obtaining any materials or information per request. The program outlines, but does not obligate, that the mentoring relationship should continue throughout the semester, and possibly beyond, based on agreement between both parties.
